Two Souls Entwined

Two souls entwined

A kiss never given

A bite

A hold

A NEW THRESHOLD

Something worth knowing

Saved

A taste

Given & gained

We find

We dance

Through

Every

Single

Lifetime

Before

This one

&

Now

We

Stand

Eyes locked

Salivating

Knowing

That this

Moment

Must last

Another

Lifetime

Before

We see

each other

again

for

one

more

taste.

Drag Racing Friday Night

When those tires bit that blacktop

Slow roast smoke green light drop

We were gone!

Side by side

Thunder & lightning

We rode those lines

For two miles

Railroad crossing jump

Two lane highway

Still side by side

That night everything was right

Then the cherries hit

Law enforcement bite

Drag racing Friday night

Won’t see you until Monday.

Instinct

I know that I have felt this way before

Twisted and turning, restless

Rolling over in bed, over & over

The phone screams another hour gone

My mind a three-ring circus performance

Of everything you told me,

A trapeze artist swinging on tears alone

You never remember the performance,

Only the price it took to get here

The lions come in and crouch

They seem to know their places

The clowns watch from the sidelines

Waiting for their chance to entertain us

They used to entertain us with their laughs

Or Emmit Kelly tears and sad face

The sidelines have become their new place

While the lions now grow restless

A spotlight continues to move around

Where is the man with the sound?

The top hat, microphone bound

A holy megaphone to the family & friends

He takes his place, while you walk in

Chair and whip in hand

It’s time for the devouring

The spotlight hits

Right where you’re standing

Sixteen hungry lion eyes

See you as only a moving spot

Skittering across the carpet

A laser pointer in a child’s hand

The cat still prowls

Crouches & pounces

On instinct

Alone
