Waxing And Waning

La Luna and I stayed up all night just talking about careers.

She asked if I ever tried orbiting?

With my friends back in the second grade,

In shoe-skates we orbited ‘round the block,

Waxing and waning, over and over.

I asked if she ever considered poetry?

Not per se, she said, but rhyming perhaps,

For children’s books.

Kind of Dr. Seuss meets Kingfisher Campbell,

Waxing and waning, over and over.

I figure, she said, I could just stay home and write all damn day,

Because who’s going to miss me when the sun is out?

I could work remote, make stuff up.

And if people don’t like it they can suck it, bite me, and kiss my ass,

Waxing and waning, over and over.
