One Bite

(found poetry)

One bite of the apple

That forbidden fruit

And we’ve crossed the Rubicon

Opening a Pandora’s box

Or a can of worms

Sowing the wind and reaping the whirlwind

Placing the straw that breaks the camel’s back

So that all the sins of all of the world

Are thus committed at the behest

Of a snake in the grass

[untitled haiku]

Pray, which may be worse?

The bedroom buzz of a gnat -

Or its itchy bite?

[untitled haiku]

A bite once taken

Must be swallowed or spit out

Thus a bitter chew
